We Will Serve the Lord

Joshua has brought the Israelites into the Promised Land and conquered the land. Now he is about to die and gives the people the choice as to whether they will follow the Lord or follow the false gods of the land. He declares that he and his household will serve the Lord. They will have to choose every day to follow God just as we do, and sometimes we make the wrong choice, just as they did.

Deciding to be a Christian is not a one day or one time decision. We are tempted every day to go in the wrong direction. The Israelites promised to give up their false gods in order to follow the one God. The false gods of that time were pretty easy to identify with Baal being the most prominent. The false gods of today are a little harder to identify and can be different for each person. We all have our demons that we need to be rid of. For some, it can be the need for money, and I don't mean for survival, I mean for itself. For others it can be the best ...

Morning Prayer 

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Inspiration 

Being a Christian means that we have become one with Christ, and therefore one with the Father, too. Jesus Christ has pulled us out of our sinful state, and enjoined us to be holy and righteous – just like Him. God desired that we would be united through his Son, Jesus Christ, and that is what happened. We are more than just being God's creation; we are his children – and that will never change.

Prayer 

Dear God, I thank you that I have my identity in you. Thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, and what he did for us. It is because of Him, I can call you Father. It is because of Him, you see me as your own – righteous, holy, and whole. I will be eternally grateful for this gift, Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
