My father spent most of his life as an angry man. He grew up in a poor home, was abandoned by his parents, left school at 12 having never learned to read and write, spent his adolescence in and out of care homes and eventually became a bricklayer. The anger and disappointment in the hand that he had been dealt had forged itself with his very being.
Growing up around him was often unpleasant. He would be insecure, angry, and violent at the drop of a hat. He was caught up in so much hate that he eventually became it, causing much stress for my siblings and me.
I grew up, and after completing my studies I moved out and travelled the world, looking for a safe place to call home. My siblings also travelled and found their own places. We kept contact with our parents but it was often more formal than a truly familiar experience.

Morning Prayer
The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
Inspiration
When looking back, we see God's hand at work! He has performed countless miracles and granted numerous blessings; He's been present in all the good times and bad. He sees us at our best and worst; He knows the depths of our hearts. God is faithful, and His unconditional loves bring us peace and happiness. Let us boast of His love and unfailing presence in our lives. We do not deserve His steadfast love; we remain humbled as we lift praises to His name.
Prayer
Dear God, We are thankful for Your continuous presence in our lives. We treasure Your love and will continue to strengthen our relationship with You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Night Prayer
And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.
Inspiration
Swords and spears were not capable of overcoming the Philistines! David confidently states that the power to defeat them would come directly from God. We observe miracles around us, big and small. The power of God heals the sick, feeds the poor, and ministers to the brokenhearted. We are the tools God uses to tell the world about His precious love and teach them the way to salvation. We remain humble with the knowledge that we do not possess power ourselves; it is God who makes all things possible.
Prayer
Dear God, You are all-powerful. You put the world in motion, and we will use our spiritual gifts as directed according to Your will. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
