I Delight To Do Your Will
Frances Taylor
When we pray the Lord's Prayer, we say "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." In this psalm, we pray that we delight to do God's will. I wonder if we really mean what we pray, or if we just say the words. First, we need to think about what God's will really is. When we read the Scriptures we see certain themes – justice, peace, and especially, love. These themes run through the Old Testament as well as the New. We are told to take care of the poor, the most vulnerable in our society. We are asked to remember that we were once strangers in the lands we now occupy. We are told to treat others the way we want to be treated, to forgive. These are not easy tasks and sometimes we do not "delight" in doing them. Morning Prayer
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Inspiration
If we had been left to our own devices and our life of sin, we would have died and faced damnation. But because of what Jesus Christ did for us, we have eternal life. We have been saved from the flames and we have been brought into a glorious life of eternity.
Prayer
Dear God, I thank you for my salvation. Thank you for saving me from a painful future ahead and replacing it with a life with you, forever. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Night Prayer
O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Inspiration
Do you ever feel like nobody understands you? Perhaps you wrestle with conflicting feelings or stumble over thoughts that can be put into words. It’s comforting to know that our God, our Maker, knows us fully and completely. There is no corner of our hearts or minds that He cannot find. And He not only knows our thoughts, but He understands them and is ready to care for whatever needs we have.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, it is a comfort to know that You know me so well. Thank You for remaining close to me. All of my thoughts and feelings are known to You, even the ones that confuse me. You know me better than I know myself. Please meet my needs, according to Your love, power, and knowledge. In Jesus’ name, amen.
