Morning Prayer 

Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

Inspiration 

John the Baptist was not jealous of Christ's rise in popularity, but introducing the Messiah was the very reason for his own ministry. He could rejoice when he saw the works of the Messiah and heard his words to the people. He never claimed to be the Christ himself but only one sent before Him to prepare the people for His coming.

Prayer 

When we lead someone else to the Lord, we are a little like John the Baptist. Lord, we seek to prepare hearts through your Word that they might then receive Christ into them. Use us to show others your Son, and let us rejoice whenever a soul receives Him. Amen.
