Morning Prayer
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
Inspiration
We are sinful. Every human has sinned – except Jesus, of course. We have all sinned and fallen short. We have all done wicked. It is not how God created us to be, but we chose to rebel and when we did, we changed. Adam and Eve chose to ate the fruit. God created us to be able to choose, and we chose evil. Our nature changed to sin nature. It is not in us to be wholly good or uncorrupt. That is how we are now.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I know I am sinful, evil, and wicked. I know I've done wrong to others, and I know I have sinned against You. I cannot choose to be good on my own. I cannot save myself from my sins. I am sorry. I repent of my wickedness. I come to You in the name of Jesus, who makes it so that I can come before You. Amen.
Night Prayer
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Inspiration
We despise the thought of a pile of dirty dishes in the sink. The outside is easy to clean; it's the caked-up residue on the inside that's so difficult to remove. Jesus compares the scribes and Pharisees with dishes that have been wiped clean on the outside while dirty inside. The Pharisees took exceptional care of their outward appearance and neglected their inward spirits. We are guilty of allowing our hearts to be left filthy as well. We look and act as we should while our souls are full of darkness. We must continue to converse with the Holy Spirit daily and trust His guidance to cleanse our sinful nature.
Prayer
Dear God, Please forgive our sinful nature. We yearn for cleansing from within, so we are genuine witnesses to Your name. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
