But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Inspiration
God’s word is a precious resource for us- but only if we use it. Scripture is a firm foundation for all areas of life- family, work, and community. When we try to build these things up without the wisdom of God’s word, we are vulnerable to the shifting sands and shaky ground of human thinking and feeling. Only God’s word provides a sure foundation for our lives.

Father, thank You for the gift of Your word. I pray that as I read and study, You would give me wisdom to not only understand Your word but to apply it. Show me how I can use Your instructions and insights in all areas of my li ...

Belief in Christ does not mean that we will be free of problems including persecution. Persecution of Christians begins here with the stoning of Stephen and continues to today. You will notice that Saul was doing a lot of the persecution. He believed that he was doing what God wanted. That's been one of the problems with persecution also from the beginning. We think of the Roman persecution of Christians, but what of persecution of one Christian group against another as in Northern Ireland, of the persecution of Jews and Christians during the Holocaust, or in the boardrooms of businesses and the neighborhoods of some of our cities today. Persecution goes on, often in very subtle ways. But overt or subtle, this is not the will of God. Saul came to realize that he was not doing God's will. Gentle and loving God, mold me the way that you see fit. I want to be more like you with every breath that I take, but I am a sinner. Forgive me for my sins, for not loving my brothers and sisters. I seek to love all of them, love Jesus, and love you. Amen.

Inspiration
Sometimes we assume that God won’t have us do anything significant and that He’ll leave the major work for the really talented people. But God’s power is limitless, and when He appoints, He equips us by the power of His Spirit, especially if we think we are not capable. For ultimately, it is God working through us that accomplishes what He desires for us so that His glory is revealed in our lives.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for making me a part of Your kingdom. I feel inadequate to do the things that You have called me to do. So I trust in Your power to carry me through the work that is before me. Strengthen me and use me for Your kingdom’s sake, so that Your glory may be made known in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
